Wildlife Tours The Simlipal Tiger Reserve and the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary are among the best wildlife reserves of India. From tigers to crocodiles, from exotic birds to rare sea turtles, Orissa is a treasure trove waiting to be discovered. With our well developed infrastructure, our tours to the heart of the jungles are not only comfortable, but are also very economical. BHITARKANIKA The Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary, covering an area of 670 Sq. Km. is one of the best sanctuaries in the state as well in the country so far as the reptilian faunas are concerned.
While traversing the narrow water creeks of river-Brahmani & Baitarani by motor boats you command bewitching views of Nature. A thrilling experience awaits you as you trek into the mangrove forest. The largest population of estuarine crocodile and Olive Ridley sea Turtles and other reptilian species like water Monitor, Lizards, are seen. The Birds Island with spotted deers are other attraction to the sanctuary. ‘Gahir Matha’ sea beach bordering this sanctuary is perhaps the Largest Turtle breeding beach in the World. Note: -Necessary entry permits required from the forest Department to visit and stay inside the Sanctuary. Best Time: - Nov.till Jan/Mid Feb. Tour: - Full Board Package. PROGRAMME - 1 Bhitarkanika & Gahimatha are accessible only by river waterways. Embarkation points can be reached from Bhubaneswar by good Motorable Road. Embarkation Points: - a) RAJNAGAR/GUPTI :- Around 120 kms from Bhubaneswar. Both side to the road you will find typical Orissan Villages. The scenery is magnificent. (Takes four hours driving) b) CHANDBALI:- Around 180 kms through N.H.5 which 4 ˝ hrs from Bhubaneswar. DAY-1 After breakfast drive to the Embarkation Points on the way visit some villages. Lunch on Gupti Forest Bungalow. Afternoon proceed is Dangmal forest Bungalow by motor launch approximate one hour & half through tidal channels on river Dhamara Brahamani, which changed its course taking with it the fresh water flow converting the rivers of this area into a labyrinth of tidal channels which changes dramatically with the diurnal tides. Watch the lovely Sunset. Arrive the Forest Bungalow. Dinner & Overnight. (Four double bedded attached toilet (Indian style) or a 14 bedded dormitory will be available, attached with dining hall and kitchen). For catering we will carry all essential commodities. Space available to fix tents if the strength increased. DAY-2 After breakfast visit captive breeding of Crocodiles in Pools and feeding. This is the place where you can find white Crocodile (Only of its kind in India). Watch the activity of Pitan inside the forest. You will also find hundreds of spotted Chital Deers in and around. Later proceed to Bagabana (Birds Island with Motor Launch. The annual congregation of nesting of Birds from July to January. Birds like open Billed storks, Egrets, Herons, White Ibis, Lasse Adjutant Storks, Shake Birds (About thirty thousand) and in January appear the Pelican. Adjutant Struts on the shining Mud banks bejewelled with hundreds of fascinating Red Fiddler Crab and their drab neighbour, the amphibious Mud Skipper fish. Lunch break inside the Bhitarkanika Forest. Walk down 1 Km. to the ruined Sight of the ancient Siva Temple near the Hunting tower King. Both side of the forest you can watch activities of wild animals. Back to the Motor Launch and continue journey to Dangmal. Arrive before sunset.
DAY-3 Morning proceed to Gahirmath through the tidal channels. (Takes nearly 4 hours by Motor Launch) Brilliant bursts of colour flash by seven colourful species of Kingfishers are found here. Hundreds of Barking Estuarine Crocodile lay down the mud flat, some also disappears into the brackish depth. The only unique place of it kind where you will find real big size crocodiles. In the evening proceed to watch mass nesting of Sea Turtle. Unique of its kind in the world on Gahirmatha Beach near Bay of Bengal. (World largest rookery of Olive Ridley) Best time : Middle of January to 3rd week and Beginning of 2nd week of March. Overnight. DAY-4 Morning relax on the Beach. Later proceed to Gupti by Motor Launch by 5 hrs. Lunch on Boat. Afternoon proceed to Bhubaneswar. We can extend the programme as per requirement of the client. SIMILIPAL WILDLIFE Similipal, the National Park covering an area of 2750 Sq Kms.has been selected as one of the nine Tiger-Projects in India.For a nature loving tourist the entire Park with its evergreen Sal Forests, extensive grassy lands and Luxuriant Waterfalls provide an element of abiding interest. The talking Mynas, Beautiful Peacocks, Roaring Tigers, Trumpeting Tuskers (Elephant) and fleeing deer are but added attractions for a gaiety of holidaying at Similipal. Note: Permit from wild life (Forest Department) required. Application with passport details required at least 5 weeks in advance. (If intent to stay in side the park) Visiting the park staying outside does not require 5 weeks in advance information. Entrance fee & Camera fee required. Season: November to May. Accommodation: Forest Rest House only with 4 beds. Tour: Full Board Package. PROGRAMME - 2 DAY-1 Proceed to Baripada, enroute visit some villages. After obtaining necessary permits, drive to Lulung Tourist Bunalow,situated on the foot step of the Similipal Forest. Total Km.-320 Km/7 Hrs Drive on NH DAY-2 Enter into the Park and drive through the zigzag forest road to watch wild animals. O/N Joranda/Barehipani Forest House near the Waterfall. Evening: - Watch wild animals on the watch lower. Total Distance – 60 Km
DAY-3 Total Distance-40 Km DAY-4 Morning proceed to Jashipur enroute visit some Santal village. Later drive to Bhubaneswar. Total Distance-300 Km We can extend the programme or reduce as per the requirement of client.
